For this first article I wanted to write about something completely unknown for me and a new culture.
This is why I choose the Dezertirebi bazaar located near station square. I first discovered this highly colored place by getting lost, what I saw was incredible. With more than 2.000 m2 of shops the bazaar is full of surprises. Created in 1920 by the army dezerter’s who were selling their weapons, time after time in 2007, the city demolished the old Soviet-era main building, sending many traders deeper into the crannies of surrounding structures.
When the new building went up in 2012, few traders returned but many stayed in the streets.
Due to the very new political situation and also the status of those storekeepers without any authorizations some people were suspicious and didn’t want to answer my questions, which were maybe too personal.
Anyway, I had the honor to meet and share some joyful moments with amazing people.
